U District Street Fair 2017
Saturday & Sunday, May 20-21
The weather was spectacular at this year’s U District Street Fair, where we returned to our spot beside the parklet on the Ave. At our booth this year, we invited you to decide your priority among the suggested topics, and cast a vote. Running totals for all topics were displayed so one could gauge what our community thinks is important. Volunteers were on-hand to answer questions and listen to your thoughts.
What’s Your Priority? - We collected thousands of votes for everyone’s top concern. The fun, interactive polling was by ping-pong ball dropped into the clear tube in front of a rainbow of priorities. Running totals for all topics were displayed to gauge what our community thinks is important and several times the tubes were emptied when overflowing. One vote per person.
Here are the results, in order of priority:
Protect Legacy Small Businesses - 376 votes
Pedestrianize the Ave & NE 43rd - 296
No Upzone on the Ave - 219
Implement Parks Plan - 189
Safer Consumption Space - 155
Bike/Pedestrian Crossing Over I-5 - 137
U-Loo Public Toilet - 130
Beautification of the District - 115
Central Town Square - 110
Parklets & Activated Alleys - 109
Holistic Mobility Plan - 90
You can still vote by stopping by our booth at the U District Farmers Market on July 15th and September 23rd.
