U District Farmers Market 2017
Saturday, July 15, 2017
Once again, the weather was spectacular at the recent farmers market. At our booth this year, we invited you to decide your priority among the suggested topics, and cast a vote. Running totals for all topics were displayed so one could gauge what our community thinks is important. Volunteers were on-hand to answer questions and listen to your thoughts.
What’s Your Priority? - We collected hundreds of votes for everyone’s top concern. The fun, interactive polling was by ping-pong ball dropped into the clear tube in front of a rainbow of priorities. Running totals for all topics were displayed to gauge what our community thinks is important and several times the tubes were emptied when overflowing. One vote per person.
Here are the results, in order of priority:
Protect Legacy Small Businesses - 86 votes
Bike/Pedestrian Crossing Over I-5 - 49
No Upzone on the Ave - 45
Pedestrianize the Ave & NE 43rd - 44
Implement Parks Plan - 30
Holistic Mobility Plan - 26
U-Loo Public Toilet - 23
Parklets & Activated Alleys - 22
Safer Consumption Space - 22
Beautification of the District - 21
Central Town Square - 16
Compare these results with those from this year's street fair. You can still vote by stopping by our booth at the U District Farmers Market on September 23rd.
Our neighborhood weekly market is Seattle's oldest and largest farmers' (food-only) neighborhood market, founded in 1993 by the Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance.
