U District Farmers Market 2017
Saturday, September 23, 2017
Once again, the weather was spectacular at the most recent farmers market with the aroma of roasting red peppers. At our booth this year, we invited you to decide your priority among the suggested topics, and cast a vote. Running totals for all topics were displayed so one could gauge what our community thinks is important. Volunteers were on-hand to answer questions and listen to your thoughts.
What’s Your Priority? - We collected hundreds of votes for everyone’s top concern. The fun, interactive polling was by ping-pong ball dropped into the clear tube in front of a rainbow of priorities. Running totals for all topics were displayed to gauge what our community thinks is important and several times the tubes were emptied when overflowing. One vote per person.
Here are the results, in order of priority:
Pedestrianize the Ave & NE 43rd - 83 votes
Protect Legacy Small Businesses - 61
No Upzone on the Ave - 61
Bike/Pedestrian Crossing Over I-5 - 34
Holistic Mobility Plan - 33
Safer Consumption Space - 28
Implement Parks Plan - 25
Central Town Square - 22
U-Loo Public Toilet - 21

Compare these results with those from this year's street fair.
