It can be hard to imagine what an urban square at the heart of the U District will look like. The examples provided here are inspirational-- ideas about what could be-- but ideas that are also grounded in reality. They show ways that cities have made great urban spaces through a variety of means, from developing unique pubic/private partnerships to installing world class sculpture to creative programming.
None of the examples provides a perfect "apples to apples" indication of what could or should happen at U DIstrict Square. But the hope is that they all get you thinking. What can make U District Square a great place?
